How to do the Most Important Things in Life: How to Receive the Kingdom

Another important thing in life is to receive the kingdom that your Father has prepared for you. There are two ways in which you can do this.
Sell your possessions and give to charity. The Lord Jesus says in Luke 12:32-34: Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. He wants you to have it. He wants to make you a king. The Lord Jesus prefaces His instructions with “Do not be afraid.“ He knows that you may be made afraid by what He is going to say next, therefore He says, “Do not be afraid.” That is to stop you from being afraid. Then He says, “Sell your possessions and give to charity.”
This may sound like a hard thing to do -- sell your possessions and give to charity. But look at what it does for you -- “make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys.” You get a purse that never wears out, that contains an unfailing treasure that no thief can steal and no moth can destroy. Who wouldn’t like that kind of purse?
2. Minister to those in need. The Lord Jesus says in Matt 25:34-40: Then shall the King say to them on his right hand, Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? Or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
When we minister to those in need, we are ministering to the Lord Jesus. That qualifies us to inherit the kingdom prepared for us from the foundation of the world. We will find in the next article in this series that there are great benefits in giving to the poor. The foregoing quotations are from the King James Version of the Bible. The original text has been followed accurately. Its archaic nature may seem strange to the reader, but many scholars consider it the best version.
Now you know how to do it. It is not difficult or obscure, it is simple. Take up the challenge, become a king and reign with the Lord Jesus.
