How to do the Most Important Things in Life: 1. How to Ensure Your Salvation

Of all the things in life, surely the most important is to ensure your future after your life on Earth is over. The Bible tells us that those who are saved go to their house, not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. The unsaved go to eternal damnation where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. The contrast is so great, that we ignore it at our peril. So what do we have to do to ensure our salvation?
In Romans 10:9-10 we are told that there are two conditions for salvation, namely,
Believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and
Confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord.
It is common knowledge in Christian countries that Jesus came in the flesh, was accused by the chief priests and rulers of the Jews, was tried by Pilate and Herod, in the presence of the LORD, and was found not guilty. Yet, the Jews insisted that he be crucified. Reluctantly, Pilate washed his hands of the affair, and let the Jews have their way. Jesus was crucified and his body buried. On the third day God raised him from the dead. If you believe this, you have met the first of the above conditions. If you do not believe it, you can make yourself believe it in your heart by repeating “God raised Jesus from the dead” many times, for “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
The second condition is easy to meet. Just say to people you come in contact with, “Jesus is Lord.”
The Lord Jesus says in Matthew 10:32 that, whoever confesses Him before men, He shall confess before His Father in heaven. In Luke 12:8 Jesus says that whoever confesses Him before men, the Son of Man shall confess him before His Father's angels, which are in heaven.
Therefore we derive great benefit by confessing Jesus as Lord before men. We become known to God and His angels and they will protect us and provide for us.
Now your salvation is assured.
